One of my favorites from Ahab, I really have nothing bad to say about any of their releases. Everything is well written and has a lot of depth lyrically having a huge influence from nautical literature including Moby Dick. The concept of "Divinity of Oceans" revolves around a true story the "Narrative of the Most Extraordinary and Distressing Shipwreck of the Whale-Ship Essex" which a huge ship was taken down by a sperm whale attack. Being isolated in the middle of a desolate ocean the men were forced to resort to cannibalism.

The band themselves hail from Germany forming in 2004, this album is their second full length and is a MUST listen for new fans.

Type: Digipack, LP
Country: London, England
Label: Cyclone Empire Records

40 Watt Sunn hails from London, England and is a three piece band featuring Patrick Walker from former Warning on guitars and vocals, William Spong on bass, and Christian Leitch on drums. This is their only release up to date and stays a consistent slow tempo, repetitive doom. Even though the vocals through out the album are completely clean Patrick Walkers vocals are filled with sorrow and grief. I feel like he just lost his dog its just too devastating especially the track "Carry Me Home" its crushing. Although a bit repetitive the structure does its justice in projecting misery but doesn't really have much of a difference from Walkers former project "Warning" their pretty much the same in my opinion. The album is best described as a slow draining atmosphere of intense depression and loneliness, definitely worth checking out.

Track Listing:

1. Saviour
2. Dead Winter Days
3. In the Gutter of this Spring
4. The Days Before the Falls
5. We are Alone
6. With the Current into Grey
7. The Turn of the Tides

After a decade since their last full length Weiland Empyrium has returned! Their sound has completely evolved since the last album I've checked out "Songs of Moors and Misty Fields' which was many moons ago. The album was much more of a doom folk metal feel but "The Turn of the Tides" is a completely new chapter for the band in my opinion. Theirs much more symphonies used specifically the orchestral strings that do a fantastic job in complimenting everything. I feel a huge addition of classical music implemented into their sound since their earlier releases. The piano and the operatic style vocals by Helm carries a lot of the weight through the entire album. The emotions projected are powerful and effective to the listener and is quite breathe taking at several parts throughout the full length. Empyrium has never really disappointed me and it seems they continuously evolve as a band. Looking very much forward to their next release and hopeful to have the opportunity to see them live one day.

Autumn's Kingdom is a one man project from Russia fronted by B.M. that released two demos and this full length and unfortunately split for whatever reason. The production is pretty raw but atmospheric and overall reminds me a lot of early Woods of Desolation. The music screams the beauty of autumn and is a perfect soundtrack to a hike in the woods during the season. Some of the tracks can get repetitious at times so there's a forewarning for any listeners who prefer to avoid that sort of structure. Overall its a really beautiful yet melancholic album that brings the listener to an land of everlasting fall. I just wish more cassettes were available! B.M. is currently working on a new project called Skyforest.
